Relying on friends and family to get you to that show or event because you can’t, or are unable, to tow your horsebox legally? Well don’t despair help is at hand in the form of RSM Driver Training who specialize in training for the towing test.
Did you know..?
If you passed your car test (Category B) after 1st January 1997 you will need to take an additional driving test to obtain (Cat: B+E) which will enable you to tow your horsebox. If you have been taking a chance you will have been driving, as far as the police are concerned, with no driving licence and no insurance, that’s at least six points on your licence and a hefty fine.
RSM Driver Training courses are designed over either 12 or 20 hours depending on your ability. Using their dedicated 4X4 and twin axle trailer that complies with DSA test requirements, your instructor will guide you through all of the elements of the driving test to a very high standard. The test involves Safety checks, Reversing, Braking, Trailer un-coupling and coupling.
There are a number of books which give more information on the test. The DSA Official Driving Test has a section for trailers which is useful (after all, the DSA set the test, so their guidance should be accurate), or visit www.direct.gov.uk which is a really informative site with all the facts and figures in one handy place.
Remember, the provisional entitlement for this Category will already be on your licence, you do not need additional theory tests etc. Just book your course and you are ready to go.
