Take part in the largest sponsored ride ever!
Horses For Heroes, in aid of Help For Heroes, will see 2010 horses ridden in a sponsored ride from Ascot Racecourse, round Windsor Great Park and back to the racecourse before racing begins on Saturday 10th July 2010, in what will be the largest sponsored ride ever!

It is hoped that the initiative will bring together horses and riders from across the equine spectrum in a show of support for our armed forces and will raise at least £1 million for the charity.
Help for Heroes raises money to support members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded in the service of their country. Supporters are asked to ‘do their bit’ to show these extraordinary young men and women that they are cared for by us.
Over a million people have given to the charity to date and millions of pounds have been raised to buy much needed services that will aid recovery. So far, almost all of the money raised has been allocated to fund direct projects and support other service charities.
Founder, Bryn Parry said: “Help for Heroes is all about people doing their bit for our wounded heroes. Horses have always supported our servicemen and women so it is wonderful that the equestrian and racing world is jumping into the saddle with such enthusiasm. Remember, it’s the first 2010 riders to sign up who will get the chance to be part of this piece of history and the website to log onto to do just that is www.horses4heroes.co.uk”

Anyone can take part in the ride, from individuals, to riding clubs, to pony clubs and hunts, but all participants are asked to raise at least £500 for the charity. The ride is open to anyone who has access to a fit / healthy horse or pony and would like to raise money for a great cause, riders and drivers of all ages and abilities are welcome. Riders will be invited to bring supporters and stay for racing at Ascot after the ride. All participants will be given a goodie bag and medal to commemorate the event.
It is hoped that should the Ascot event be over-subscribed, smaller satellite events will also be organised.

Now this is something that horse lovers like me had been waiting for. It would be a pleasure to watch so many horses coming together to participate in an event. A similar view was seen in Topeka, Kansas some time back at the Extreme Cowboy Race World Championship where renowned horses and horse lovers had participated. I would suggest you check it out yourself online at Horse2Heart (http://www.horse2heart.com/results-world-championship-extreme-cowboy-race-finals) and find out what fun the top position holders had while racing.
