St Felix named National Champs

SaintFelix School’s Equestrian Team members have earned themselves the title of National Champions, after their excellent performance at the recent National Schools Finals at Keysoe, Bedfordshire.
All four members, Chloe Stewart, Bo Jackson, Alice Ward and Amy Ward, are active members of Waveney Harriers Pony Club, and they took first place out of the 32 teams which competed in the National Schools Finals. Opponents included Millfield and Stonar schools which specialise in equestrian sport.

Kate Campbell, Saint Felix’s Equestrian Team Leader, said she was delighted with the team’s efforts: “I am absolutely thrilled with the girls’ performance at the National Schools Final – and not just because they triumphed over strong competition. All four team members built on their unprecedented success at the Regional Qualifier last month.”

She continued: “I am thoroughly impressed with their continued dedication and focus, not only throughout training, but also on the day. They demonstrated impeccable maturity in holding their nerve and supporting each other over a testing track.

“I would like to thank all the girls’ parents, without whose continued support, (and tack cleaning!) the girls could not succeed and of course the ponies, who definitely deserve some extra carrots this week!

“I hope that the team will go on to achieve further accolades but, more importantly, that their teamwork and sportsmanship will provide inspiration to our junior teams. Well done Chloe, Bo, Alice and Amy!”
