The BRAND NEW issue of HOOKED on Horses magazine is out today.

Catch up with all the latest news and show reports with the latest copy of Hooked on Horses magazine; including reports from all over the county, a comprehensive events diary, fantastic competitions, THE BIG interview and much much more.

Mary King came to Essex this month and we bring a full, exclusive report on her demonstration and clinic held at Towerlands.

The Mary King spectacular was hosted by events management team Your Equestrian Advisor on Saturday 6th February, a rare treat for us Essex based riders as Mary rarely gets to visit this part of the country – being based in Devon! Find out more in Hooked on Horses magazine!

This months interview is with Liz Warr a taster of what is in the article is below;

With a BSc (Hons) in Agricultural Science and and MSc by research, Liz Warr joined Writtle College in 1977 to teach Farm Animal Nutrition. She developed Equine Studies courses at Writtle to MSc level and is an External Examiner at several colleges. Liz started her career as a lecturer in Agricultural Science almost thirty years ago as a junior lecturer and progressed to roles embracing research, management and educational development. In the past Liz has run a grassland management business in partnership with her husband and she is extensively involved in the British Riding Club movement at both county and national level.

It was with great anticipation that I met up with Liz, who I heard so much about but never met, to find out all about her career and how she brought the equine unit to Writtle.  From the very beginning…

And back this month is the diary of a young eventer, Maddie Taylor on her road to Badminton…

I got back from skiing on Saturday afternoon (20th February) just in time to go the JAS at Merrist Wood on the Sunday, to have one last shot at qualifying Bandalera in the novice.

I took her into the BE 100 as HC first to give her a warm up before tackling the novice class.  She was a good girl but when we looked at the leader board she was already half way down the placings with half the field still left to jump; so we left early writing the class off. On our way home we rang up the organiser Holly Farr, to see how we had got on and found out that we came tenth! I couldn’t believe it, we had qualified by the skin of our teeth!

HoH March edition is JAM PACKED with photographs and results from competitions all over Essex including…. Riding club team show jumping and dressage held at Norton Heath EC; Finchingfield EC clear round jumping and unaffiliated show jumping; Brook Farm LE Trec training and competition as well as show jumping; Havering and Essex North Hunt Pony Club show jumping; Longwood EC affiliated show jumping and showing; HoH dressage league qualifier at Brook Farm and much MUCH more.

We have three fabulous give aways this month including Pedalite Anklelite and Snuggsox! To enter see page twenty-three of Hooked on Horses magazine.

Our featured rider of the month is show jumper Jo Davies, to find out more get hold of the magazine today; available in saddleries and feed shops all over Essex; as well as newsagents and you can even subscribe online to get Hooked on Horses delivered straight to your door for no extra cost!
