The October Issue of Hooked on Horses magazine is out to buy now, featuring the Orsett Show report, one of many reports included, of horse shows across Essex! *Your last chance to buy*
This Months Main Feature is of course our report on The Orsett Show 2011 - A country show and day out for the whole family
One of the most popular events of its kind in Essex, the Orsett Show – and one of the oldest surviving one-day Horticultural and Agricultural shows in the Country – once again celebrated an action packed programme of fun and excitement enjoyed by all who attended.
“The 2011 Show was a great success, bigger and better than ever, with a huge array of displays and activities. The Show’s success was due in part to the nice weather, which is so important with any outdoor event, and as a result it will enable us to make donations to our nominated Charities, and plan for the 2012 Show.” – Ray Maywood.
“One of the highlights of the day was surely the Essex final of the Marriages Riding Club Pony of the year competition, which was won by local pony club girl Taylor Booker riding Shiloh Star”
The October Issue features ‘The Big Interview’ with Ian Lewington:
Ian Lewington, whom many of you will know as the proprietor of Longwood Equestrian Centre, is a man of many talents – a showjumper, coursebuilder, producer of competition horses and instructor to name but a few. Since taking up riding, Ian confesses he has ridden ‘more horses than he can remember’ competing at county level and riding at international shows.
‘If you have been to Longwood in recent months, you will have seen the results of a refurbishment which has included new lights in the indoor arena, new roofs on the stables, brand new toilets, refurbishment of the cafe; in addition every wall has had a new lick of paint and in the next few weeks the gallery will be stripped out and replaced with a brand new seating area.’
