Essex Show Rider Katie Jerram has qualified for a Premier National Championship.
Top show rider and producer, Katie Jerram, has qualified to compete in the South Essex Insurance Brokers Racehorse to Riding Horse Championship at the prestigious Horse of The Year Show 2011. The pair finished as Reserve Champion in 2010 and Katie has high hopes for the 2011 Championship.
Katie, of Great Dunmow, won the SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse Show Class, held at Osbaldeston Riding Centre recently riding Mr and Mrs Michael Jerram’s, Night Prayers. The pair fought off stiff competition from twenty-nine other competitors to earn their coveted ticket to Horse of The Year Show 2011.

Originally in training with Brian Smart, Night Prayers last raced in 2006 and after a short career with just one win from seven starts, he was sold out of racing. The gelding was discovered on a yard in Wales before the Jerram’s bought him from Steve Pitt and Vicky Smith.
“This is our first racehorse class this year as we have been concentrating on the job that he will go on to do as a large hack. I am massively impressed with the standard today, which has stepped up yet again. Every horse in the final judging had a category to go to and would be able to go on to do open classes. I am hugely impressed that this class for retrained racehorses is getting it right”, said Katie.
Katie and Night Prayers will now compete at The SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse Championship finals at the Horse Of The Year Show, 4th – 9th October 2011, at the Birmingham NEC.
The Racehorse to Riding Horse Show Championship is supported by the charity, Retraining of Racehorses (ROR). Horses need to have raced and been in training with a recognised trainer to be eligible for these classes, which provide an opportunity to qualify for the prestigious HOYS finals.
