Taylor Booker is the October 2011 Martin Wilkinson’s Rider of the Month – and what a month it has been for Hullbridge based Taylor and her eleven-year-old pony Shiloh Star.
The highlight must surely be winning the Essex Final of the Marriages Riding Club Pony of The Year, at the Orsett Show, which means she has booked a coveted qualifying ticket to The Ponies UK South Show for the Grand Final in May 2012.
Thirteen-year-old Taylor, who recently represented the Essex Union South Pony Club in the annual Gosling Cup Competition, returned to Overbury Hall (The venue for this years Gosling Cup) to compete in Essex and Suffolk’s unaffiliated hunter trial.
She added to her recent run of successes with a win in the 2ft6 class following a strong clear round – and the rider closest to the optimum time. Sweyne Park student Taylor has owned Shiloh for two years.
Taylor, who is trained by Debbie Horobin on the flat, competes in all spheres with Shiloh from showing, to pony club activities and the pair also went to pony club camp earlier this year.
Taylor’s aims for the future include the marriages grand final, returning to Orsett next year and she would also like to compete at The Royal Windsor Show.
