Olympic qualification and test events on the BBC this summer

We take a glance at the BBC coverage of Olympic sports this summer, including equestrian, as athletes look to stake their claim for a place in Team GB for London 2012. 

BBC Sport will be bringing viewers all of the key moments from a number of Olympic Sports over the next couple of months as Team GB hopefuls attempt to stake a claim for a place at the London 2012 Olympic Games. There will be coverage across TV, Radio 5 live, BBC Sport online and BBC Red Button.

With many key qualification and test events taking place in August and September, this is a crucial time for many of Britain’s athletes, from all twenty-six Olympic sports, as they seek winning performances against the best in the world.

This follows a special programme ‘Olympic Countdown’ which was aired on BBC Two, 1300-1730, Sunday 21st August. Clare Balding looked at how London is preparing for the Games.  This will soon be available to watch on BBC iPlayer, click here to view iPlayer.

Upcoming Equestrian programmes include:

  • Equestrian – Euro Eventing: Cross Country, BBC Red Button and bbc.co.uk/sport, 0925-1500, 27 August
  • Show Jumping, BBC Red Button and bbc.co.uk/sport, 1240-1430, 27 August
  • Euro Eventing, BBC Two 1515-1730 and bbc.co.uk/sport, 28 August. Reports also on Radio 5 live. Britain defend the team title they have won eight times on the trot
  • European Show Jumping Team Championships: BBC Two and bbc.co.uk/sport, 1510-1630, Sunday 18 September

There will be a further edition of British Olympic Dreams on BBC One, 1430-1500 on Saturday 17th September.
