Students at Writtle College, in Essex, are holding a charity jumping, showing and fun show this weekend – entries are open to all!
The annual undergraduate equine charity event will happening at the Writtle College Horse Unit on Sunday 22 April. The Fun show and Show Jumping Event is to be held in aid of Redwings Horse Sanctuary and Little Havens Children’s Hospice.
The team of undergraduate equine students have organised a day full of activities, including

Arena 1:
CLEAR ROUND JUMPING: 9am-11am £3 per round (rosettes to every clear round).- Entries on the day.
Jumping Classes – Commencing 11.30am PROMPT
ALL JUMPING CLASSES : £6 +£2 first aid per rider (if pre-booked) and £7 +£2 first aid on the day. (rosettes to top 6 places and prizes to top 2)
CLASS 1: Novice: (open to any horse/pony, rider any age, jumps not exceeding 2ft3in).
CLASS 2: Top Score: (open to any horse/pony, rider any age, jumps not exceeding 2ft6in)
CLASS 3: Intermediate: (open to any horse/pony, rider any age, jumps not exceeding 2ft6in)
CLASS 4: Puissance: (open to any horse/pony, rider any age, Starting fence 2ft6in)
CLASS 5: Open: (open to any horse/pony, rider any age, jumps not exceeding 2ft9in)
Arena 2:
Gymkhana Classes Starting at 9am PROMPT. Entries taken on the day.
£1.50 per ticket, rosettes to 4th place, overall champion and reserve champion placing’s in each category (age group).
Categories (age groups:
8yrs and under (lead rein allowed)
12yrs and under
Open
Races:
1) Bending race
2) Potato race
3) Egg and spoon race
4) Sack race
5) Musical sacks
6) Consolation race ( for anyone who hasn’t received a rosette)
SHOWING CLASSES starting at 2pm PROMPT.
£5 per class. Pre-book or entries on the day.
CLASS 6: Fancy Dress: Open to horses and ponies, riders of any age, lead rein allowed.
CLASS 7: Pony Club pony/ horse: Rider any age, to include a small jump.
CLASS 8: Pony/Horse the judge would most like to take home: Rider any age, lead rein allowed.
Rosettes to all competitors.
Rules and Regulations:
1) NO SMOKING in non designated areas.
2) No responsibility can be accepted by the organisers for anything that may occur to riders, horses, spectators, assistants or their property.
3) Emergency vehicular access must be available at all times. DO NOT BLOCK GATES AND DRIVEWAYS.
4) All visiting dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
5) Visitors’ horses must not enter stable yards.
6) All riders MUST wear a standard riding hat BSEN 1384, PAS015 AS TM F1163 or SNELL E2001. Correct riding dress should be worn- jackets & riding boots (no muckers or chaps). Jodhpur boots and gaiters are acceptable. No spurs to be worn by riders under 14 years. Long hair should be tried up securely- off the collar.
7) The judge’s decision is final.
Do NOT muck out onto the lorry park.
9) Please refrain from smoking near horses and food. Thank you.
